O' Charley's Cinnamon Sugar Donuts

I don't like O' Charley's It is TGI McFunsters corporate substandard, overly processed, cheap "food' type product at it's worst. It's like the menu was inspired by Rachael Ray- exactly how many dishes do they have to smother in cheese anyway?

At this point you are probably wondering why if I hate them so much am I writing about them. I ended up eating at one tonight- no it was not my idea and honestly I did not feel like fighting it. The only high note to an otherwise bland cheesy dinner was dessert.

Those rotund little bits of warm cinnamon bliss left me in a Homer Simpson like state of ecstasy.
They cake donuts that are served warm and shaken at the table in cinnamon sugar.
There has got to be something addictive that they are adding to those things because they were GOOOOOOD.

I am not saying they are worth a special trip but if you find yourself stuck eating there at least get yourself something decent for dessert (or as the main course)

Reeses Limited Edition Elvis PB & Banana Cup

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Peanut butter, banana's AND chocolate?!- do I really have to say much more?

These are the first of the recent cups I have liked. The ratio of peanut butter to chocolate is almost the same as in the classic cups- the only notable difference is a slightly thinner coat of chocolate on the bottom. There is a smidge less peanut butter to make room for the banana creme. There is no way in hell you would ever confuse the banana creme flavoring for real banana. The best way I could describe the flavor is say that it is like a less sweet Circus Peanut. It was a good decision on Reese's part to not over power the cup with the edition of too much banana.

If you are a fan of PB & banana sandwiches (I am!) or of artificial banana flavor you are going to love these. I have seen that they even offer this flavor in the "Big Cup" portion although I have not found one yet.

If Elvis himself were still with us I bet he would be eating these fried with bacon. In his honor I am off to eat the second cup!

Klondike Caramel Pretzel

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Oh Klondike... you fuzzy little waist killer. Taunting me with caramel and pretzels- sugar and salt in one package? Sign me up!

In the interest of full disclosure I feel the need to state that I DO NOT like Klondike bars. The mocklate is just oily and gritty. The ice cream is, well it's cheap. And they always end up melting in your hand because there's no really good way to eat one.

That being said I was really in the mood for something cold yet salty and when I saw these in the freezer case I decided why not.

The bar is your standard issue size and shape . The ice cream in this bar is caramel and at the top of the bar hiding under the mocklate are pieces of crunchy pretzel embedded in a gooey caramel layer.

I am not going to beat around the bush I am just going to come right out and say it:
If I still had PMS this would the best thing since the Hershey Take 5.
Yeah, the mocklate still sucks. The ice cream is still mediocre. But the combo of cold, salt and caramel is just unbelievable. Eat them, eat many of them- get them off the shelf because I don't need to buy any more of them.

Oreo Cakesters

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
I have to hand it to Nabisco...

No matter how many products they slap the name Oreo on no matter how good or bad they are I will buy them at least once.

And with only two exceptions (both ice cream products) every time I find myself wondering why I bothered.

Why is it that with the exception of the classic sized cookies and the ice cream everything they stick the Oreo name on manages to taste nothing like an actual Oreo?

The Cakesters are no exception. They are sized slighter larger then your average cookie and are comprised of two soft cake layers with either a vanilla or chocolate cream in the center.

The cake.
Texture wise it is quite good. Moist and flaky. It's the taste that kills. A combination of cheap chocolate and oil. If they had managed to recreate the taste of the Oreo Ice Cream Sandwich wafers these snacks would have been fantastic. But since they didn't...

The cream:
The vanilla cream was like a slightly thicker version of the normal cream. Gritty, too sweet. The chocolate version however is good!. I am not going to say I went as far as licking the cream and discarding the cake on one... but it might have happened.

I can see kids loving these but I will be sticking to regular old Oreo's.

All Things Orbits

Rather then do a bunch of short posts on Orbits gum I decided to get lazy and do just one long post instead.

First up will be my favorite:

Wrigley's Orbit Sweet Mint
Sweet Mint has got to be the single best mint gum on the market today. To describe the flavor I would tell you to imagine chewing a perfectly soft Candy Cane. There's not too much vanilla and the mint is balanced to where it's refreshing but not medicinal. I heard a rumor today that the flavor has been discontinued but I have an information request in at Wrigley's so hopefully they will tell me it is still in production.

Spearmint is up next.
I am indifferent on this one. It's not the worst Spearmint ever but after how impressed I was with the Sweet Mint it was a bit of a let down. I would chew it but I wouldn't go out of my way to get it.

I didn't mean to buy the Bubble Mint, I thought I had picked up the Raspberry flavor. Alas I did not. If you like classic bubble gum flavor you will probably love this. I, however do not. To sum it up it tastes like someone mint bubble gum flavored Pepto-Bismol HMMMMMM GOOD!

Last and certainly least is Mint Mojito.
WTF? I like Mojitios I like them a lot- hell I make a killer Mojito. This tastes about as much like a Mojito as "Krab" tastes like real Crab. If the overwhelming citric acid "lime" didn't kill your taste buds the listerinesque mint will. It's the aftertaste from Hell. About the only thing this gum is good for is giving to people you hate (um, not that I carry gum for that specific purpose or anything...)

Froot Loops with Marshmallows

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Oh Toucan Sam you do know the way to my cold black heart don't you?

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
It's like you read my mind. How could you possibly make an already delicious and super sugary cereal even better?- why put MORE sugar in it. The additional sugar is of course in the form of marshmallows.

I know there are those who consider marshmallows to be repulsive, in fact someone I know with even refers to them as "ghost turds" but seriously how do you not consider them to be one of the best foods ever?.

Why I bet even Bourdain himself at some point before breeding made him go soft tucked into a "frooty' bowl of marshmallow happiness after a night of hard drinking and losing women to Batali.

How do you not love a bowl of brightly colored , pure sugar rings? Yeah, so you can't actually make out what "froot" they are supposed to be flavored like. Sure they are like diabetes in milk but they are still my sugar fix of choice.
